                                                                                                           THE TEACHING OF CHRIST

...."And now I ask you, lady, not as writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it. For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves, that you might not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward. Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son"....
                                                                                                                                                                                                                       2 John 1:5-9 NASB

The "teaching of Christ" is defined as the principles of Christ [the Kingdom of Heaven] - as revealed by the Holy Spirit. All the deceptions, all the lies, indeed, all those things that are designed to draw us away from God are found in the "world". Therefore, when a believer "maintains" a fear of being deceived, it is because they have, in some way, remained in heart-fellowship with the world. Because of these things, it is certain that they need to begin to humble themselves before God on a daily basis - thus, allowing the Holy Spirit to both expose and remove the "idols" that they, themselves, have raised up in their lives. An idol is defined as being anything or anyone that we place ahead of our love of God - anything or anyone that is given pre-eminence over [occupies] the place due only to Him. We must see [gain a revelation of] in this most critical hour the importance of removing ourselves from any fellowship with the world and its ways [fear, pride, rebellion, inbelief etc.]. For it is certain that as we begin to "abide" in the Word [and allow the Word to abide in us], God will be enabled to reveal to our heart an abundance of truth and revelation so that we might "walk above" ALL the darkness of this present "world system" - with both feet planted firmly in the Kingdom.
