+ There is no such thing as "righteousness" apart from Christ - only self-righteousness, and the "moralistic platitudes" that are its spontaneous by-product [1 Corinthians 1:26-30].

"moralistic" - of or related to conduct or character from the point of view of right and wrong;

"platitude" - a flat, dull or commonplace statement; made commonplace by repetition;
